Been trying to understand “entropy” – the idea that systems become disordered over time. I watched a video on youtube: 2 connected boxes – one filled with little balls & one that was empty. Eventually, the balls migrate to both sides & all is chaos.

After 1000 years of hyper-sleep, the pods opened & the colonists woke up. Men, women & children gathered around the displays, eager for a first look at the tantalizing landscape waiting for them on the planet below. Then there were tears & cries of horror.

Gaping Cave
The mayor walked with the guy from the insurance company, past road workers & a row of blinking signs. They stopped at a gaping hole in the pavement & peered into a deep cave where several cars and a truck had fallen in. The bodies were still down there.

Wolves
I was freezing to death. Tried lighting a fire in the bush, but the wind and snow kept putting it out. Found a hunting cabin. No one home – not for a long time. Had to bust the door down. Found some old rusty nails & fixed the door quick when I heard wolves outside.

Made of Stone
See that forgotten old ruin, broken by years of weather, fire, neglect & decay? It’s just rubble now – a place made of stone, stripped of colour, life & memory. Only the worn bones of somewhere that used to be a home remain – a faint echo of safety, belonging & hope.
